The Lady Wildcats gather during the game at Luther for some words of wisdom from their coach.
On Tuesday, February 25th, the Wildcats hosted the Boscobel Bulldogs in the first round of regional playoff games. Coach Pharo was very excited to see how focused and energized his team came out of the locker room, which led to Belleville having one of its best scoring first halves of the season. The Wildcats went into the locker with a 41-32 halftime lead over the Bulldogs. In the second half the Bulldogs fought hard, but Belleville kept its composure which saw them bring home a 74-64 point victory.
The Wildcats saw four girls score double figures, which included seniors Jenna Shrader and Erin Kittleson scoring 17 points apiece while sophomores Ava Foley and Mickey Stampfl each added 12 points for Belleville. Coach Pharo also added that he was happy with the valuable minutes he got off the bench from sophomore Madi Winterburn.
On Friday, February 28th, Belleville fell to Luther in the Regional Semi-Final game.
Coach Pharo commented, "While the team came out of the locker room with energy, they were cold shooting in the first half, which could have been contributed to their three-hour bus ride to Onalaska. The score at halftime saw Luther leading 27-16, these 16 points by Belleville was one of the lowest scoring halves of the season. The team never gave up and gave great effort throughout but could never overcome the first half miscues which in turn saw the team falling to Luther 60-43."
Belleville was led in scoring by Erin Kittleson with 11 points, Ava Foley with 9, and Mickey Stampfl with 8 points for the Wildcats.
In closing, Coach Pharo mentioned how honored and happy he was to be able to lead the Belleville Wildcats in his first year as head coach, and can't wait to start working on the next season. Lastly, he mentioned that he wanted to thank each of the seniors and the parents from Belleville for all of their support this season. GO WILDCATS!!!
