A couple of decades ago, some parents began asking themselves where will our children with disabilities go when we are gone. This thought led to a residential facility that would be there when their children were ready. The Home Of Our Own (HOOO) is now an organization that is building that facility to provide that housing. Ground has broken and construction has begun very near New Glarus, on Elmer Road.
This forty unit apartment will have ten units dedicated to folks with disabilities. Two and three bedroom apartments are also included in this structure. The facility will have walking paths, raised garden beds, roof top decks, community rooms and an exercise room.
The parcel located adjacent to the Little Sugar River is close to convenience stores, banks, clinics and a pharmacy. The place will provide employment, productive activity, independence and social activity for all.
The ARC-Green County has donated $10,000 through its LEO fund to aid in the funding of the project.
