The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill set up near The Bank of New Glarus at 1101 Hwy 69. All proceeds from the event went directly to the New Glarus Fire Department.
The New Glarus Fire Department’s annual fundraiser, Firefest, was held on Saturday, August 3, 2019, beginning at 11:30 a.m. There were lots of great free family-friendly activities, food and music.
On Sunday, August 4, 2019, the New Glarus Männerchor held the annual Volksfest Celebration. Volksfest celebrates Swiss Independence and the birth of the Swiss nation achieved in 1291.
The New Glarus Alphornman Sprint Triathlon and AlphornKids Splash ‘N Dash were held on Sunday, August 4, 2019.
A new book detailing the beginning years of New Glarus was published this summer in advance of 2020 175th anniversary of the Swiss settlement. A Common Treasure was written by Duane H. Freitag, a native of New Glarus and a retired newspaper reporter and editor.
The New Glarus Woods State Park hosted a Trail Run on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Runners participated in 5M and 10M runs, along with a 1-Mile Run/Walk.
Logan Winklepleck, New Glarus, was honored by the Boone and Crockett Club, the nation’s most prestigious conservation and big game hunting organization.
On Monday, August 26, 2019, the New Glarus Area EMS arranged for the family members involved in a horrific accident in March of 2019 and the first responders who answered the call to get together.
Two graduates of New Glarus High School were presented with scholarships by Tofflers owner Steve Longo. Michael Schieldt and Justin Palmer each received a check for $898.
Todd Clark from the WIAA, along with Craig Kamholz from Rural Mutual Insurance, presented the 2019 Boys Basketball Sportsmanship Award to the New Glarus Knights.

Once again on Labor Day the Wilhelm Tell Festival was held. Since 1938, the people of New Glarus have presented the Wilhelm Tell Pageant. The pageant was the vision of Edwin Barlow, a world traveler who donated his home, Chalet of the Golden Fleece, to the Village of New Glarus.
New Glarus Brewing Company donated the money to purchase a new diving board for the New Glarus pool.
The 12th annual New Glarus Family Festival was held on Sunday, September 8, 2019. The park was full of visitors who enjoyed some great family entertainment for all ages.
The New Glarus and Belleville Police Departments, in partnership with Roy’s Market and Burreson’s Foods, along with the Green Bay Packers Organization, announced the 2019 Green Bay Packers Trading Card Program.
On September 11, 2019, officials from the National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSC) announced the names of 16,000 semifinalists. Adam Nelson, a senior from New Glarus, was named a semifinalist candidate. Adam is in a pool of less than one percent of U.S. High School seniors and has the opportunity to continue in the competition for one of 7,600 National Merit Scholarships.
The Swiss Church held their annual 2019 Kilby Supper on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
New Glarus Oktoberfest and New Glarus High School Homecoming were both held on the same weekend.
Oktoberfest ran from Thursday, September 26, and run through Sunday, September 29, 2019. There were a number of activities, and lots of great food and beer for everyone to enjoy.
Oktoberfest King and Queen were Will Daehler and Kaye Gmur.
Homecoming Queen was Brooke Watrud and King was Charlie Douma.
There was also a group of firefighters from Glarus, Switzerland in New Glarus enjoying the festivities.
