Communities in the area have turned out to show their support for the Blohowiak family. Alex Blohowiak of Monticello has been in the hospital and in a coma since Christmas Eve due to a heart condition. Both Alex and Sharon have volunteered their time, and encouragement to the players and teams in Monticello.

On Monday night, January 6th, during the Monticello Boys Basketball game, it was announced that a substantial donation for the family had come in from the Belleville Sports Boosters. The proceeds from the 50/50 raffle and the Pony Toss were also donated from the winners and from the Monticello Athletic Boosters.

By Thursday night at the basketball game, nearly 300 "Backing the Blohowiaks" t-shirts were sold. During warmups both Monticello and Albany players were wearing the shirt. Once again the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle and the Pony Toss were also donated from the winners and from the Monticello Athletic Boosters. Plus Tri-Insure LLC matched the amount from the 50/50 raffle, with Dale Atkinson presenting a check for $620 to the family. Sharon shed some tears both nights, and thanked everyone for their support.
