Linda L. Duffy

Linda L. Duffy, age 81 of New Glarus, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at her home with family by her side. She was born on October 20, 1938, the daughter of Henry J. and Martha (Hanson) Elmer.

Linda graduated from New Glarus High School with the class of 1957. On February 24, 1962, she was united in marriage to Eugene Duffy at the Swiss United Church of Christ, where she had been baptized. Linda had worked at Oaktron in Monroe and Zenith in Chicago before returning to New Glarus where she worked as a cook and bartender at Swiss Lanes for many years. She was known for her pies and the Friday night fish fry. Linda made sure to pass along her cooking talents to her children and grandchildren. She also provided dog grooming services at her home. Linda loved to use her lucky streak with trips to the casino and dog tracks in Dubuque. She also enjoyed the many weekend horse show trips with family. Linda's family and grandchildren were the most special to her, many great memories were created at grandma's house, including watching scary movies, exploring and playing outside, and sharing a meal together. She and her family were able to venture out one last time to the casino for Christmas.

Linda is survived by her husband, Eugene; children, Lori (Scott) Larson, Pam (Tom) Shaughnessy, Renee (Dennis) Rupnow, and Alan (Teffanie) Duffy; grandchildren, Leslie (Casey), Brooke, Mallory, Carly, Patrick, Abbey, Brandon (Lyndsay), Bailey, Kasie, and Blake; and great-grandchildren, Teagan and Gage. She is further survived by a sister, Marian Hustad.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lorraine Hustad; and brother, Harland Elmer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI, with Pastor Petra Streiff officiating. Burial will be in the Swiss Cemetery, New Glarus. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Saturday, January 11, 2020, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
