Gertrude Bigler

Gertrude Bigler, age 96 of Belleville, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. She was born in Madison on October 21, 1923, the daughter of Alphonse and Marie (Luginbuhl) Berger.

Gertrude graduated from Central High School. On February 16, 1944, she was united in marriage to William Bigler Sr. in Verona. Gertrude was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had also worked as a cook at Four Winds Manor in Verona until retiring. In her retirement, she provided assistance to those in need with cooking and cleaning at their homes.

Gertrude is survived by her children, William (Kathleen) Bigler Jr., Betty (Brad) Harrison, Jo Ann (Gerald) Gehin, Dale (Barbara) Bigler, Sally (Dennis) Hoffman, Tammy (Jerald) Bois, Janet (Edward) Short, and Peter Bigler. She is further survived by sixteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents; and siblings, William Berger and Emma Matts.

Private family services will be held with interment in the Belleville Cemetery.

A celebration of Gertrude's life will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church Street, Belleville, WI.
