The Green County Milk Quality Council, in cooperation with Extension Green County, will be sponsoring its 30th Annual Green County Dairy Management Seminar on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. The seminar will run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and will be held at the Green County Justice Center, Multi-Purpose Rooms, 2841 6th Street, Monroe.

The featured speakers for this year’s program will include Dr. Mike Hutjens, Professor Emeritus in Dairy Science from the University of Illinois, who will discuss the 2019 growing season challenges for Midwest dairy farmers. The presentation will discuss feed inventory status, alternative choices if feed resources are limiting on your farm and decisions to make in January. Additional discussion about Mycotoxin Binders will give guidelines on the types of products, levels in feed being fed, and signs of risks.

Dr. Paul Fricke, Reproduction Specialist from the University of Wisconsin Dairy Science Department, will be on the program to discuss “Barriers to High Fertility in Lactating Dairy Cows”. His presentation will also include other factors that can affect fertility including BCS change during the periparturient period, mastitis, and heat stress.

Due to sponsorships by many local businesses, the advance registration fee is $7.00 and includes lunch. Registrations are due to the Extension Green County Office by January 22, 2020. An additional $3.00 late fee will be charged for registrations received after this date. Enrollment is limited to the first 60 participants who register.
