Sugar River Euchre

November 28, 2019

With just one week left to play until the mid-winter tournament, Pranksters Tommy Schulenberg and Rodney Latham were able to pull 113 points out of their hat of tricks (this week’s high score), coercing the Mounties to vanish behind a 46-point loss. John Scheidegger and Tracy Haag attempted to pull the same feat on the Riley Shufflers when they steamed into the station with 111 points for the Harley Blue Express. However, Dale Herfel and David Steinhauer produced just 77 psi of steam for the Express, this week’s low score, 9 points short of what was required to out-deal the Shufflers.

Whereas, Barb Judd and Steve Sponem also found 111 points in the stack of hay to help the Kleeman’s Hay Shakers outpitch the J&M River Rats by 7 points. The other home team in New Glarus, the S’Wisco Taphaus Cheese Eaters, had very little cheese to munch on but found plenty of whine (tears) as the Pipe Benders twisted a 21-point win out of them.

There are several averages by players that have played at least six matches thus far that demand recognition: Ferdie Schmitz (107.714), John Scheidegger (106.667), Ed Chancellor (106.429) and Derek Skogen (106.286). For the rest of us there is plenty of time remaining in the season to climb our way back into the hunt for high average.

Put December 12th on your calendars. This is the date of the Mid-Winter Tournament to be held at the Norsk Golf Club. Registration will start at 7:00 p.m., play at 7:30 p.m.

The Sugar River Euchre League would like to wish everyone a happy and thankful THANKSGIVING!
