On Friday, October 25, 2019, the former Upright Swiss Embroidery Factory was demolished. Started in 1925 by investors from the local area and Chicago, the Swiss-style embroidery factory struggled to succeed and closed temporarily in 1932. In 1935, Swiss immigrant Arnold Wieser took over the factory and developed it into a unique enterprise that drew lots of attention to the village.
