"One Team, One Family, One Dream" - Coach Gentilli began the pre-season meeting last summer with these words and common goal. The Raiders boys soccer team achieved their dream of winning the 2019 Capitol Conference title, finishing the regular season with a 7-1-1 conference record.

The Raiders had a busy week, playing three games. A 7-1 win over Lakeside Lutheran clinched sole possession of the conference title. Carter Siegenthaler had no trouble finding the back of the net, scoring four goals assisted by Breckin Faber, Charlie Douma, and Ryan Downing. Logan Niesen, Ryan Downing, and Breckin Faber each scored goals. Goalkeepers Julian Lutz and Cam Kleiboer each posted three saves.

The team traveled to Cambridge High School to play the Cambridge/Deerfield team to a 2-2 draw. Charlie Douma scored the first goal off a penalty kick. Breckin Faber (Ryan Downing assist) scored the second. Both of Cambridge/Deerfield's goals were scored by penalty kicks.

The Madison Edgewood Crusaders took a short cruise to the Belleville Sports Complex and were defeated by our Raider Varsity Reserve team, 2-0. Both goals were scored by Logan Niesen (assist by Levi Belknap). In the Varsity game, the Raiders were edged out by a score of 0-2.

The WIAA Boys Soccer tournament begins next week as the dream continues. The Raiders will face Cambridge/Deerfield in Division 3 regional play. This match will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 7:00 p.m., under the lights of Reddan Soccer Park in Verona.
