Grace I. Marty

Grace I. Marty, age 90 of Monroe, died Friday, October 18, 2019, at UW Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 9, 1928, in Blanchardville, the daughter of Arthur and Olga (Johnson) Guldhaug.

Grace graduated from Blanchardville High School. Grace married William Roth on June 26, 1948; she later married Delmar W. Marty on May 9, 1987, in Monroe. She was a ward secretary at St. Clare Hospital, retiring in 1988. Grace was a member of Jordan Lutheran Church; she enjoyed quilting, gardening, making Norwegian and Swiss dishes and desserts. Grace also enjoyed sports, her favorite was watching the Badgers and the Brewers. She also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and tutored kids in reading at Parkside Elementary.

She is survived by her children, Greg (Debbie) Roth of Albany, Audrey (Gene) Luchsinger of Monticello, Kevin Roth of Monroe and Pam (Jim) Schultz of Belleville; eight grandchildren, Shane (Jeni) Luchsinger, Daniel (Nicole) Roth, Nicholas Roth, Justin Engelkens, Derek (Kristin) Luchsinger, Brogan Engelkens, Dylan Luchsinger, and Gavin Roth; nine great-grandchildren; and she was looking forward to her first great-great-grandchild due in April of 2020. Also survived by four step-children, Bonnie (Richard) Merwin, Walter Marty, Nancy (Jim Davis) Marty, and Joyce (Terry) Carroll; eight step-grandchildren; and nine step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and three sisters, Helen Guldhaug, Agnes Shannon, and Judith Knauff.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday October, 24, 2019, at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will be in Blanchardville cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
