Knights Pillage Pirates
October 17, 2019
On Friday evening, the NGM Football team traveled to Waterloo for a conference battle with the Pirates. It was a cold and blustery evening, but the NGM team was red hot and started fast. The Knights stopped the Pirates on their first drive and wasted no time as Mason Martinson scored on a 41-yard run on the second offensive play for an early lead. Connor Siegenthaler added the extra point for a quick 7-0 lead.
The Pirates responded with a drive that resulted in a score on a screen pass to tie the game at 7-7. The Knights responded with a ten play drive, and Connor Siegenthaler capped the drive with a 3-yard rush and the extra point for a 14-7 lead.
The Knights never looked back after that point. Darris Schuett, Cooper Dreyfus, and Connor Siegenthaler would add touchdowns to extend the lead to 34-14. The scoring was capped by two booming field goals by Connor Siegenthaler. One field goal was from 32 yards and one was from 37 yards, on a windy evening. Siegenthaler also kept the Pirates in check with two touchbacks on kick-offs.
Martinson led the Knight offense on 19-30 passing for 176 yards and two touchdowns. Martinson also rushed for over 100 yards on the evening. Siegenthaler added over 100 yards rushing and multiple scores. Nathan Streiff led the Knights with 10 catches for 89 yards.
