New Glarus Woods Trail Run

The New Glarus Woods State Park will be hosting a Trail Run on Saturday, August 17, 2019. Runners can participate in 5M and 10M runs, along with a 1 Mile Run/Walk. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., racing begins at 9:30 a.m.
This is the first annual event, and a part of the Savanna Trail Run Series. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Friends of the New Glarus Woods State Park.
The 5M and 10M Trail Run will begin on a gentle downhill on the Sugar River Trail before turning onto double track trails for the rest of the 5-mile loop. The 10-mile loops will continue on a similar loop. Open to runners age 14 and older. Top overall male and female finishers will receive awards as will the top three participants in the following age groups: 21, 21-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.
The 1-mile course starts down the Sugar River Trail and then turns to the trails for the remainder of the course. Youth 13 and under will receive a time and receive a special medal for completing the run. Adult participants will not be timed.
A 1/4 Fun Run for kids 7 and under will also take place. Each participant receives a special bib finisher ribbon.
Parking within the park is limited and requires an annual State Park Pass or purchase an $8 day pass. You can pay with cash or credit card on arrival. Alternatively, you may choose to park at the New Glarus High School and use the mile run up the Sugar River Trail as your warm up. You may pick up your early packet at Movin’ Shoes Running Store, 528 S. Park Street in Madison, on Friday, August 16, 2019, from 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. On Saturday, August 17, 2019, the parking lot shuttle starts at 7:30 a.m., and Registration and Packet Pickup open at the Park Pavilion at 8:00 a.m. The 10M race starts at 9:30 a.m., the 5M race starts at 9:40 a.m., and the start of the 1-Mile Run/Walk is at 9:42 a.m. The Party in the Park begins at 11:00 a.m. The 1/4 Mile Kids Run starts at 11:15 a.m., and the Awards Ceremony is set to begin at 11:30 a.m.
The event planners have reserved a block of rooms at the Swiss Aire Motel in New Glarus, or camp right in the park!
