All eyes of the strong and stingy Raider girls soccer defense, including senior Goalkeeper Rachael Heittola, are focused on stopping an Edgewood forward from crossing the goal net. From left: #6 Karstyn Rossing, #17 Ellie Gentilli, #5 Emma Anson, #2 Rachael Heittola and #4 Julia McNamar.
And just like that....3+ months on the soccer field comes to an end. For the seniors, WHAT AN AMAZING RIDE!! Multiple conference and regional championships, state runner-up finish, and 20+ shutouts in 25 games. A grinding, bend-but-don't-break defense, and an astonishing goalkeeper. Thank you senior ladies, you will definitely be MISSED next season!!
This past Thursday, the Lady Raiders traveled to undefeated #2 seeded McFarland for a Sectional Semi-Final matchup. After 90 minutes, two 10-minute overtimes, and a sudden death PK shootout, the Raiders PREVAILED 4-3, with sophomore Kirsten Krantz blasting in the final goal!! Also putting in PK shots were senior Ellawyn Fong, senior Goalie Rachael Heittola, and sophomore Jaylynn Benson. Goalkeeper Rachael Heittola had 2 huge saves to aid us in the exciting victory!
Moving on to Saturday for the Sectional Final match, the Raider girls traveled to #1 seeded host Madison Edgewood. A tough battle for almost the entire first half, and Edgewood snuck one in the net for the only goal in the game. They finished strong but ended with the 0-1 loss just one game shy of State. Congratulations to Edgewood, and the Raiders can keep their heads high as finishing the season 19-3-5, allowing 6 goals scored on the entire season, a conference and regional Championship, and MANY great memories!!
Thank you again ladies....look forward to next season!
