June 13, 2019

Gayla (Statz) Schultz and her father, Bernie "Benny" Statz.

Bernie "Benny" Statz, Monroe, had the privilege to participate in the Badger Honor Flight on May 18, 2019, with his daughter, Gayla (Statz) Schultz, as guardian. Bernie "Benny" served in the Vietnam War 1968-1969.

"We had a very fun, fulfilled, unforgettable and amazing day in my father's honor. Receptions to and from at the airports were grand. Our day consisted of visiting Arlington National Cemetery, where we observed the changing of the guards and wreaths, Air Force Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, World War II Memorial, Marine Corps/Iwo Jima Memorial and 911 Memorial at the Pentagon," explained Gayla. "On the way home was "mail call" with all the special cards and letters from lots of wonderful people were given to my father. Could not have asked for any better experience for my father on the Badger Honor Flight!"
