After hitting a double, Wildcats first baseman Matt Hackman advances to third on a passed ball during the game at Waterloo.
The Belleville baseball team played three games last week.
"Going into this week having three conference games, we knew we needed to play well to keep our spot at the top of the conference," said Coach Griffin Rear.
Their first game of the week was against Marshall, which they won 11-6.
"Our offense started to click against Marshall as all nine of our starters recorded at least one hit in the game, ending with 14 total hits for the team," said Rear.
Jaydon Winkers was 2x4 at bat, while Trevor Syse was 2x5, Jackson Richter was 3x4 with 1 RBI and Carson Syse was 2x3 with 1 RBI.
Pitcher Jaydon Winkers struck out 1 and gave up 5 hits.
On May 7th they played Cambridge, losing 0-1 in 10 innings.
"Unfortunately, our offense was a bit more stagnant on Tuesday night against Cambridge. Austin Fahey pitched an incredible 8 innings of shutout baseball and we put ourselves into a great position to come away with a victory, but baseball can be a cruel game," said Rear. "I tell our players that sometimes you can play well and still lose, which was ultimately our fate against Cambridge."
Austin Fahey pitched 8 innings, giving up 7 hits and striking out 5. Trevor Syse pitched 2 innings, striking out 1 and giving up 2 hits and 1 run.
On May 10th, the Wildcats played Waterloo and won 6-1.
"We put together a very clean, well-played baseball game to walk away with a comfortable victory," said Rear.
Jaydon Winkers was 2x4 at bat with 1 RBI while Jackson Richter went 2x3 with 1 RBI.
Jaydon Winkers threw 68 pitches, striking out 1 and allowing only 1 earned run.
The Wildcats hosted Lakeside Lutheran on May 14th, and Marshall on May 16th and will play at Wisconsin Heights on May 17th.
