Benedict Jerome Hofmeister, age 78 of the Village of Belleville, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Friday, May 3, 2019, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg. Ben was born January 13, 1941 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Benedict M. and Marie K. Hofmeister.

Ben married Judith Ann (Lynch) Hofmeister on June 9, 1962. He was a proud graduate of UW-Madison and a long-time fan and supporter of UW Athletics. He owned and operated Farmers Implement Store in Madison, and, up until his death, enjoyed helping his son with the business. He enjoyed strumming his guitar and serenading all of us.

Ben is survived by his four children, Ben (Kelly) Hofmeister, Rob Hofmeister, Tom Hofmeister and Sue (Jeff) Van Ekeren; grandchildren, Amanda, Jacob, John, Gwen and Claire Hofmeister and Carter, Logan, Jack and Tyler Van Ekeren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; and a great group of friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Patricia; beloved wife, Judy; and dog, Molly.

Funeral services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 338 S. Harrison Street, Belleville, WI, on Friday, May 17, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. A visitation with light refreshments will be held from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m., prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Belleville Senior Center.
