Lady Wildcats Win over Lodi Blue Devils

Maddy Weber pitched all 7 innings in the game against Lodi and struck out 5. The Wildcats won the game, 9-4.
On April 15th, the Belleville Lady Wildcats played at Lodi, winning the game 9-4.
Belleville started the scoring in the 1st inning with Ella Campbell's triple to deep left and Kori Rogers had an infield hit to put Campbell across home plate. By the top of the 3rd inning the Wildcats were up 5-0 and they scored 1 run in the 4th and 5th innings to take a 7-0 lead. Lodi scored in the 5th and 6th, but Belleville came back in the 7th to stop the Blue Devils. CC Grefsheim had a base hit and moved to second on a ground out by Jenna Shrader. Raina Nicholson was hit by a pitch, then Callie Everson had a ground out which advanced everyone to the next base and Abby Winterburn connected with the ball to send it to left center and send two teammates home.
Ella Campbell was 3x5, scored 3 runs, a triple and stole a base. Kori Rogers was 1x3 and had 2 RBI. Jenna Shrader was 3x4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI. Raina Nicholson was 2x3 with 1 run scored, a stolen base, and 2 RBI.
Maddy Weber pitched all 7 innings, striking out 5, walking 1, and gave up 6 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned.
"As a team we had 13 hits, but stranded 8 girls on base," said Coach Connie Wunschel.
On April 16th, Belleville played at Waterloo, and as Coach Wunschel said, "The winning continues!" Belleville won the game, 12-4.
Belleville took a commanding 9-0 lead in the first inning and scored 2 more runs in the 6th and 1 in the 7th.
Jillian Michaels was 2x2 with 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and 1 RBI. Ella Campbell was 2x3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI. Abby Winterburn was 2x3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI. Callie Everson was 0x2, with 2 RBI.
"I keep telling them that putting the ball in play is what matters most, and Callie's stats say that best!" explained Wunschel.
Maddy Weber pitched and struck out 1, walked 3, gave up 12 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned.
"Maddy pitched an excellent game, especially when the strike zone became very small and very advantageous for the other team," said Wunschel. "Our defense played very well behind her, making some really good plays. They had 12 hits but were only able to score 4 runs. They left 11 runners on base. We made outs when it really mattered."
On Monday, April 22nd, the Wildcats played at Black Hawk and will host Marshall on April 25th.
