Have you been on the school board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: I have been on the New Glarus School Board for the past three years. I am currently Chair of the Policy, Communication and Advocacy Committee.
Why are you running for school board? I would like to continue working on setting policy and helping to plan for the future of our District.
What issues do you find most important to the school board? How would you handle these issues? The future growth of our School District and community is one of our most important issues. I would like to see the Board and community work together to anticipate our needs as we grow and make decisions that will benefit everyone.
Any additional comments? As much as I have felt that STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) is an essential component of our curriculum, I find it very encouraging that the Arts are a very popular element in our schools with so many students participating. We are making great progress with reading and language arts, thanks to the New Glarus teachers who have researched and chosen new curricula so thoughtfully.
