Have you been on the school board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: I am completing my first term on the Monticello School Board.

Why are you running for school board? I have always had a vested interest in Monticello Public Schools and the community in general. It's my belief that students in small, rural schools deserve the same educational opportunities as students in larger districts and it's our job as a board to ensure that happens.

What issues do you find most important to the school board? How would you handle these issues? I feel the most important issues that the school board is facing are the health and safety of our students. As a board we work hard to make sure our students have the services that they need to perform at the best of their abilities. School safety is also of the utmost importance and we, as a school board, must strive to make sure it remains a top priority in every decision we make. Budgets are always challenging for schools, especially small schools like ours. Since it is difficult to increase funding, I feel it is very important to remain vigilant in allocating the resources we have in a responsible manner.
