Town of Exeter Candidate for Chairperson - Ted Fahey

March 21, 2019

Ted Fahey

Age: 67

Occupation: Farming.

Years lived in Town of Exeter: Entire life.

Incumbent? Yes.

Have you been on the town board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: Town Board, 26 years. Green County Board of Supervisors, 6 years.

Why are you running for town board chairman? I feel it is important to have a town chairman who has the experience, time and commitment to serve as town chairman. Having served the past 26 years as a board member provides such experience. With minimal staffing, the chairman is frequently called upon to provide information, answer questions and issue permits. Also a good understanding of the challenges of snow removal and equipment needs is most essential to provide the residents with this most basic and important service, along with the willingness to assist the drivers in times of need.

What issues do you find most important to the town board? List your top three priorities: 1) Providing the very basic essential services is the most important thing any town board must do: maintaining a reliable fleet of snow plows and drivers; manage and staff a recycle center (currently providing this service at 1/3 cost of curb side pick-up); maintaining roads; provide for EMS/Fire protections and providing a building inspector. 2) Must be fiscally responsible with tax dollars and look for new sources of revenue. Currently, Exeter has the lowest local tax mill rate of all the surrounding municipalities; has received more local town road grant money than any township in Green County and also has no town debt. 3) Would like to continue to develop the Exeter Park for all to enjoy. Since its inception 12 years ago, all improvements have been through donations and fundraising efforts and would like to continue this method of funding.

If you could reverse one town action, what would that be? None.

Any additional comments? I have lived, farmed and paid taxes in Exeter my entire life. The township has seen tremendous growth over the years. I believe my 26 years as a board member has provided me with the necessary experience and background to serve as town chairman.
