Wildcats Win Regional Championship

The Wildcats Boys Basketball Team earned a Regional Championship on Saturday, March 2nd, after defeating Cambridge. The Wildcats will next play in the first round of sectionals against Parkview, in Evansville, on Thursday, March 7th. See page 11 for more. On Friday, March 1st, the # 2 Belleville Wildcats hosted #7 Brodhead for a Division 4 WIAA Regional game. By halftime, Belleville held the lead, 35-31.
In the second half Belleville outscored their opponents and won the game. The final score was Belleville 71, Brodhead 59.
Royce Clark led the Wildcats with 20 points while Austin Fahey scored 15 points and Jaydon Winkers scored 12 points.
The win against Brodhead earned the Wildcats the right to play against #11 Cambridge in a WIAA Regional Final game the following night at home, a team they had lost to on February 21st. Cambridge was coming off a win against #3 Markesan. The two teams battled through the first half, with Belleville holding a 1-point lead going into halftime.
The second half was a continuation of the battle, with Belleville managing to outscore Cambridge and come away with the win to become WIAA Division 4 Regional Champions. The final score was Belleville 57, Cambridge 50.
Leading the Wildcats in scoring was Royce Clark with 18 points, while Jaydon Winkers and Jared Schulting scored 11 points and Austin Fahey scored 10 points.
Belleville faces #1 Parkview at Evansville on Thursday, March 7th. The winner of that game will play the winner of the #4 Fennimore vs #2 New Glarus game on Saturday, March 9th.
