Lady Knights Beat Cambridge

Jaylynn Benson scored 16 points against Platteville and 19 points against Cambridge, making her the leading scorer for both games.
On January 14th, the Lady Knights hosted Platteville. The halftime score was New Glarus 20, Platteville 26.
Coach Kim Burton commented, "NG jumped out to an early lead and kept it close until the last five minutes of the game."
Unfortunately the Lady Knights lost the game. The final score was Platteville 61, New Glarus 45.
Jaylynn Benson was the leading scorer for New Glarus, with 16 points. Lexi Krause scored 10 points and had 7 rebounds and Morgan Hustad scored 6 points.
January 17th was Parent's Night and the team hosted Cambridge.
"The players had an opportunity to thank their parents for all their support and encouragement throughout the season," said Burton.
Again the Lady Knights jumped out to an early lead over the visiting Cambridge team, but by halftime Cambridge had cut their lead to just one point. The halftime score was New Glarus 22, Cambridge 21.
In the second half the score was close.
"With 4:15 left in the game, the Knights were up 8, but thanks to some outstanding free throw shooting and some offensive rebounds, the Knights were able to extend their lead," said Burton. "The team was 16 of 21 from the free throw line, which included 10 of 11 in the final three minutes."
The Lady Knights won the game, 60-41.
Leading the way was Jaylynn Benson with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Morgan Hustad and Lexi Krause scored 11 points each and Krause pulled down 6 rebounds and had 3 assists and 3 steals.
The Lady Knights played at Belleville on January 22nd, and will play Marshall at home on January 25th and host Mineral Point on January 28th.
