Anonymous Email Makes Claims of Misconduct

January 24, 2019

On Wednesday, January 16, at 9:28 p.m., an anonymous email was sent to over 40 recipients in law enforcement and media outlets. The email made allegations of misconduct against New Glarus Police Lieutenant Jeff Sturdevant. The email was signed “concerned citizen”.

Sturdevant was suspended from his part-time position with the Green County Sheriff’s Office pending the results of an outside investigation.

New Glarus Police Chief Burt Boldebuck released a statement that said, “The Village of New Glarus Police Department is aware of certain allegations concerning Lt. Jeff Sturdevant being made by an anonymous source. Though the allegations have been raised anonymously, because of the serious nature of the allegations, Lt. Sturdevant has been temporarily placed on restrictive administrative duties and the matter has been referred to another department for a complete independent investigation. Until that investigation has had an opportunity to proceed, the Village will not be making any further comments.”
