There was flooding around the area as early February in 2018. According to the National Weather Service, last year was one of the top five years for rain fall.

The Stuessy-Kuenzi New Glarus Post #141 hosted the American Legion's Oratorical Scholarship Program Contest for high school students of Green County. Contestants were required to give 8-10 minute prepared oration on a topic of their choice related to the United States Constitution. They were also assigned a topic on which they gave a 3-5 minute oration. The assigned topic was one of four topics that related to specific articles of the Constitution. Sarah Blumer, a sophomore at Monticello High School, was the winner of both the #256 and the Green County contests.
