American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program

High School students in Green County are invited to complete in the Annual American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program.
The High School Oratorical Scholarship Program has the full cooperation of Wisconsin school officials. The Posts and Green County Contests will be conducted at Monticello High School on January 6, 2019. Orientation for contestants will begin at 12:30 p.m. Scholarship awards will be earned by the winners and runners-up at each phase of the competition. The winner of the National contest earns an $18,000 scholarship.
The subject in the prepared oration portion of the contest must be about some phase of the Constitution of the United States, emphasizing the duties and obligations of a citizen to the United States. The prepared oration must be the original effort of each contestant and must be 8-10 minutes in length. An assigned topic will also be required and must be 3-5 minutes in length.
The winner of the Green County contest will compete at the District level at the Darlington American Legion Post on January 13, 2019. The Regional and State contests will be on the Ripon College campus on February 9, 2019. The National finals will be in Indianapolis, IN, in April.
