School District Thanks Residents for Support of Referendum

November 22, 2018

Dear Editor,

The New Glarus School District would like to thank voters for their support of the November 6th referendum questions. The strength of our schools will directly impact the strength of our community in the future. Our number one goal is to ensure that ALL students receive a quality education. Your yes votes will help us to better provide opportunities for our children to learn, grow, and succeed in New Glarus.

The first referendum that passed allows us to increase our operating budget by $500,000. This will allow us to add needed staff to address the rapid growth of the high school, while retaining our top-notch staff at the elementary and middle schools.

The second referendum which passed allows us to purchase 45 acres of land in the Village of New Glarus so we have room for future growth and development. We are in the process of doing a thorough study of our future needs in our district. We are looking to our future with foresight and want to have a plan to be prepared for the next 5, 10 and 20 years. We value input and will be assessing the wants and needs of the community in the process.
