Girl Scouts of Wisconsin – Badgerland Council recognized a Belleville volunteer at its Annual Meeting this fall for her leadership and mentorship for young women in the area.

For the first time in 2018, Badgerland is honoring volunteers with GIRL awards to celebrate volunteers who embody the Girl Scout mission through their work as role models to girls. GIRL stands for Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker and Leader, and this year four volunteers were honored to represent each of those traits. The GIRL awards will be an annual presentation moving forward.

Katie Kaetterhenry is the first-ever Risk-Taker honoree! Katie is a co-leader of a local troop and also stepped up to volunteer in her community as a Product Sales Manager (which means she probably hauled around a lot of Girl Scout cookies last year!). Nominated for the honor by her peers, Katie is well-regarded in the Girl Scout community for her positive attitude, friendly guidance and always going above and beyond for the benefit of the girls.

Also honored with GIRL awards were Jessica Frank of Reedsburg, Jeni Hallatt of Lake Geneva and Karen Biedermann of Columbus.

“These volunteers are not only putting in the time and effort it takes to run a troop, but they’re also demonstrating what it means to be a G.I.R.L. in today’s world – a Go-Getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker and Leader,” said Marci Henderson, CEO of Badgerland Council. “We can’t express our gratitude enough.”

Badgerland Council is comprised of 24 counties in south-central and southwest Wisconsin, and has service centers in Madison, La Crosse, Janesville and Platteville. For more information about Girl Scouts, including membership and volunteer opportunities, visit http://www.gsbadgerland.org.
