Sugar River Euchre
October 11, 2018
Jones’ Plumbing made all the right connections to keep the River Rats high and dry as the Pipe Benders flowed over J&M Bar by 48. Jerome Krantz and Chris Booth (Jones’ Plumbing) had this week’s high score of 117 points while Tony the Cellar-Dweller and Dave Bower contributed 110 points to the Benders 428 points. In the match between the Pranksters and the Cowboys, the two Norsk Golf Club teams, the Cowboys outsmarted the Pranksters by 17 points. Captain Don Field and Harold Schlimgen recorded 111 points for the Cowboys.
In New Glarus the S’wisco played host to Hooterville. The Cheese Eaters started out slow but quickly took control derailing the Express to put a big check in the win column after a winless second half last season. The match started with Hooterville pulling out of the station with a 21-point lead, but by the end of the second round the Express found themselves down by one. Kendal Wenger and Brett Eichelkraut pulled most of the spikes in this derailment with their 111-point night. The Cheese Eaters went on to win this one by 25 points. At Kleeman’s, just around the corner, last year’s champions found themselves on the wrong end of the pitchfork as the Hay Shakers pitched the Riley Shufflers out the door with a whopping 74-point defeat. The Hay Shakers were never in danger of losing their first crop of the season as the Shufflers recorded just twelve wins all night, four of them in the seventh round. Jeff Judd and Don Williams (Kleeman’s) finished with this week’s second high score of 112 points while Stan Hook and Pat Maclean (Riley) ended in the basement with a 71.
