James L. Thompson

James L. "Jim" Thompson, age 67 of Fitchburg, WI, formerly of Argyle, WI, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at his home in Fitchburg. He was born July 15, 1951 in Monroe, WI, the son of Paul and Irene (Paulson) Thompson.

Jim graduated from Argyle High School in 1969. He grew up in Argyle and went on to college at UW-Platteville. During his college years he traveled with the rock bands "Clicker" and "Hardroad," where he played bass guitar and sax. Jim later returned home to farm with his father in Lamont township. Shortly after returning home, he was severely injured in an automobile accident. Following his recovery he moved to Madison, WI, where he worked for his niece at Julia Grace Salon and also for Sequoya Library, both of Madison.

Jim is survived by one sister, Vicki Miller of New Glarus, WI; one brother, Art (Melissa) Thompson of New Glarus; one niece, Tabatha (Marc) Berget-Barnaby; step-niece, Michelle Miller of Monroe; three step-nephews, Nick Miller of Milwaukee, WI, Jason Jindra and Dusty (Becky Zuber) Jindra, both of New Glarus; and two great step-nieces, Julia and Grace Barnaby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Leroy Thompson.

Jim was a past member of Yellowstone Lutheran Church, in rural Blanchardville, WI.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading, sketching, painting, and photography, creating memories they will all cherish forever. Jim will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

A funeral service was held Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 12:00 Noon at Yellowstone Lutheran Church, 4472 Saints Road, rural Blanchardville, with Rev. Traci Maass of Wiota Lutheran Church officiating. Burial is in Yellowstone Church Cemetery. A visitation was held Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 10:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m., at the church.
