2018-2019 Monticello Dairy Queen, Sarah Blumer

Hello! My name is Sarah Blumer, and I am the 2018-2019 Monticello Dairy Queen. My parents are Ron and Jen Blumer. I am very excited to be representing Monticello this year!

Since being crowned in June, I have had the opportunity to promote Green County's agricultural industry at several events, including Monticello's Homecoming Celebration, the Green County Fair, and the Wisconsin State Fair. I have learned a lot about agriculture in Green County, and I have enjoyed sharing my knowledge with community members and others. The next big event that I will be attending is Cheese Days. I will be serving ice cream in the Ag Chest's trailer and attending the Cheesemakers Ball, introducing the Zweifel Brothers on the Main Stage, and riding in the parade. I hope to see everyone there!

As a community Dairy Queen, it is my responsibility to represent the Green County Ag Chest and to promote our agricultural industry. My passion for showing dairy cattle led to my interest in serving as a Dairy Queen. I was not raised on a farm, but I always wanted to show animals at the fair. When the opportunity arose for me to show cattle, I embraced it. During the past four years of showing, I have learned a lot about dairy cattle, and I have found a new passion for the dairy industry. The Dairy Queen Program has provided me with the opportunity to give something back to an industry that has given me so much.

One of the most rewarding parts of being a Dairy Queen is educating people about Green County and the agricultural industry. During the Wisconsin State Fair, my fellow queens and I worked at the House of Moo. The House of Moo is a hands-on education center that features interactive exhibits. I was able to help visitors with the activities and answer their questions about the dairy industry. Some of the visitors had never seen a cow. It was especially exciting to see younger children touch a cow for the first time. This experience made me realize how fortunate I am to live in rural Wisconsin.

I am looking forward to continuing to share my love for Green County and the agricultural industry throughout my year as Monticello's Dairy Queen. If you have a community event that you would like me to attend as a representative of the Green County Ag Chest, please contact me at sjblumer@icloud.com.
