New Glarus Blood Drive Exceeds Goal

August 9, 2018

Dear New Glarus and Area Residents,

Thank you for stepping up to make our Friday, August 3rd Blood Drive a great success.

The Charge Nurse was delighted with the fact that we had the lowest deferral rate ever! Only three were deferred this time for a later day instead of our normal 8 to 12! This was awesome news for me to hear. Thank you all for hydrating and eating well in preparation for donating.

To quote Ryan, “We had a great day today! Seventy-one Presenting Donors gave us 72 Total Units. Six donors equaled 12 units of Power Red. Three were deferred and two did not finish. Seventy-two units x 3 = up to 216 lives touched!” This was six units above the goal of 66 that we were given to achieve.

A shout out to all our volunteers that helped run things smoothly: JoAnn Cruse, Linda Coughlin, Tim Usher, Debbie Kundert, Alice Foster, Harveda Knobel, William Kuenzi Jr., Dennis Orr, Shirley Lueschow, Ruth Anderegg, Fran Zimmerman, Dianne Barr, Rosalie Wieser, Dorene Disch, Marlene Kowalski, Kaye Gmur and Chris Kiesz. Plus all that helped unload and reload the trucks at the beginning and also the end of the day. And another big thanks goes to our bakers and treat providers: Eloise Kuenzi, Sally Lamp, Peg Roth, Mary Usher, Mardell Elmer, the New Glarus Bakery, Roy’s Market, Maple Leaf Cheese and Chocolate, New Glarus Hotel, Hoesly’s Meats, Ruef’s Meat Market, Alp and Dell Cheese and Culver’s. We always hear we have the best snacks at our drives.

Congratulations to David Owen on achieving his 4-gallon pin today! FYI, the New Glarus Brewery is sponsoring a Blood Drive in November and our next Community Drive will be December 28th.

Sincerely,
