Zimmerman of UW-Whitewater Track and Field Named All-Academic

Landon Zimmerman, a native of New Glarus and graduate of New Glarus High School, is one of 12 members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater track and field program to be acknowledged by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in the organization’s 2018 NCAA Division III All-Academic Honors.
Zimmerman is majoring in Accounting at UW-Whitewater.
In addition, the women’s team was recognized as an All-Academic Team after posting a 3.27 cumulative grade point average through the 2018 spring semester.
Senior Chelsie Bence (Oconomowoc, Wis./Oconomowoc), junior Celeste Madda (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central), sophomore Abbie Felton (Burlington, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) and freshman Shelby Nickels (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) were each selected as All-Academic individuals on the women’s side. Madda garnered her third straight All-Academic accolade, and Bence concludes her career as a two-time honoree.
Seniors Matt Green (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago), Alec Meixelsperger (Middleton, Wis./Middleton), sophomores Alex Duff (Oregon, Wis./Oregon), Greg Hatzinger (Marshall, Wis./Marshall), Jake Schneider (Plymouth, Wis./Plymouth), Tanner Stephens (Nekoosa, Wis./Nekoosa), freshmen Colton Tisdall (St. Charles, Ill./North) and Landon Zimmerman (New Glarus, Wis./New Glarus) represented the men as All-Academic individuals. Green and Schneider are each two-time selections.
To qualify for All-Academic accolades, student-athletes must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and must have either competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 35 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by http://www.TFRRS.org.
To qualify for All-Academic Team status, teams must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.1.
A total of 627 women were selected All-Academic. On the men’s side, 408 student-athletes made the list.
