Melissa Durst and Jon Durst. Jon was named the American Legion Department of Wisconsin's Outstanding Firefighter of Wisconsin for 2018 at the American Legion Department Convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on Saturday, July 14, 2018.
Jon Durst, a member of the Stuessy-Kuenzi New Glarus Post #141, was presented a plaque to recognize him as the American Legion Department of Wisconsin's Outstanding Firefighter of Wisconsin for 2018 at the American Legion Department Convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Making the presentation was the Department Commander, Laurel Clewell.
Jon was nominated by the New Glarus American Legion post. Jon is a Paramedic/Firefighter for the Madison Wisconsin Fire Department. Jon is a New Glarus High School graduate and he was a volunteer firefighter in the New Glarus Fire Department for 18 years prior to joining the Madison Fire Department. Jon was honored this year as the Post, County, and District Firefighter of the Year. Melissa, Jon's wife, accompanied Jon to the Convention.
