Visitors to Monticello's annual Homecoming Celebration had the chance to check out some WWI memorabilia at a display in the lobby of the former Monticello Ford building.
The Monticello Community Club, with assistance from Kim Tschudy, the Wisconsin State Historical Society, the Monticello Area Historical Society, and memorabilia from local collectors, presented a WWI display in the lobby of the former Monticello Ford building at 120 W. North Avenue.
This display commemorated the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI. The book World War I Remembered by Gary Sheffield was on display along with maps of the many countries that were involved in this war. Two WWI uniforms, photos, and photos of WWI posters from 14 countries involved in WWI were also on display.
The Monticello Public Library had a display of various WWI books, and sold copies of the recently released book Letters from the Boys, Wisconsin World War I Soldiers Write Home. The book features letters from Monticello, Brodhead and Brooklyn Veterans.
