Belleville Family Medicine Welcomes Four First Year Residents
July 5, 2018
Belleville Family Medicine is welcoming four first year residents. Those residents are:
Samantha Mayhew, MD (PGY-1)
Sam loves small town rural medicine, women's health, and geriatrics. She is originally from northern Michigan and to moved Delphi, IN, during her childhood. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Indiana University and attended the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine for medical school. In medical school she participated regularly with the geriatric club, mentoring children, and enjoyed getting involved with the various communities in Cincinnati. Outside of medicine she enjoys anything that involves the outdoors and her pup!
John Yeakel, MD (PGY-1)
John finds great joy in the privilege of building friendships as he cares for his patients and empowers them to make important decisions about their own healthcare. John is originally from Mazeppa, MN. John earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse before attending the University of Minnesota Medical School. While in medical school John was a member of the Rural Physician Associate Program, which allowed him to complete his rotations in Albert Lea, MN; he loved living in a smaller community away from the noise of the big city. He is drawn to family medicine because of the wide variety of settings in which he can practice and the deep friendships he can cultivate with patients. John enjoys cooking, fitness (including running and yoga), and reading in his spare time.
Taylor Boland, MD (PGY-1)
Taylor is from rural Stoddard, WI (near La Crosse). She received her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences and Spanish from the University of Notre Dame and returned to Wisconsin to earn her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Although she is especially interested in rural, addiction, and integrative medicine, women's health, and end of life care, Taylor is also active in advocacy and community engagement. Taylor can often be found outdoors running, hunting, and sailing or cheering on the Badgers and the Packers.
Nick Squires, MD (PGY-1)
Nick is drawn to the broad scope of family medicine, in caring for babies through seniors, and having a direct positive impact on lives through outpatient and inpatient care. Nick is a native Wisconsinite, hailing from Altoona (near Eau Claire). He earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine (New Orleans). Nick's family medicine clerkship in Opelousas, LA, showed him what kind of doctor he wanted to be - one that fosters strong relationships with patients, sees a wide variety of conditions, and performs many procedures. This experience also showed him the benefits of practicing rural medicine and living in a small town. In his patient care, Nick focuses on prevention and follow-up as he works with patients to manage acute and chronic illnesses.
