Valla Kristine Zentner, age 65 of Mount Horeb, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Agrace Hospice. She was born August 4, 1952 to her parents, Delmar and Betty Zentner.

She graduated from New Glarus High School in 1970, and from the Madison General School of Nursing in 1973. She found joy in her 45-year career as a registered nurse and contributed her steadfast spirit to all the wonderful people who she worked with through the years. 

Valla loved living on the farm in Blue Valley, the same valley where her mother, grandmother, and great-grandfather had all been born. She enjoyed watching full moons appear up over the hills from her picture window, and entertaining friends and family for many holidays and celebrations. The greatest joy of her life was watching her sons become the compassionate and resourceful men that they are today. 

Valla was extremely grateful for all the cards, calls, and visits during these past months; and the Celebration of Life party that was held for her in January meant the world to her and truly sustained her during the last months of her illness. She so appreciated the outpouring of love and thoughtfulness. Valla and her family also want to thank all the wonderful people at both the Carbone Cancer Center and Agrace Hospice. 

Valla is survived by her sons, Kyle (Sandra Strycker) La Fond and Ryan (Holly) La Fond; siblings, Cheryl (Robert) Bergum, Roderick (Pat) Zentner, Julie (Jerry) Landmark, Debby (Jay) Schneider and Holly (Charles) Carnes; nieces and nephews, Anna (Steve Elliott) Landmark, Katie (Scott) McIlvanie, Jaclyn (Luke) Steel, Kevin Schneider, Nicholas, William and Taylor Carnes. She is further survived by her aunt, Kathleen Elmer; and very special friend, Larry Rufenacht. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and fiancé, Jim Robertson.
