Martinson Wishes to Clear Up Misinformation Regarding Library
June 14, 2018
To all interested citizens,
While out and about, I heard a comment that broke my heart: “the library is going to take down our softball diamond, our only softball diamond”. Let me assure you that this is misinformation. While this is only one viewpoint, it bothers me that someone believes this to be true. The citizens selected Glarner Park, the current ball field site, in a referendum because they wanted the library close to downtown. The “library” and its board cannot act without the approval of the village board. Secondly, the ball field relocation will happen before the library facility construction begins. Finally, the “library” has never been about taking away quality of life in New Glarus, rather wishes to enhance it. Please know that all that makes New Glarus a great place to live is important to the “library”, too.
Jane Martinson,
New Glarus
Library patron and former library board member
