David R. Schulz

David R. "Chops" Schulz, age 73 of Belleville, passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at his home. He was born on May 9, 1945 in Monroe to his parents, Raymond and Gladys (Stiklestad) Schulz.

Dave graduated from Belleville High School in 1964, and he married Linda May on June 14, 1966, and they celebrated 28 years together until her passing. Dave worked at Federal Industries in Belleville for 30+ years, and also operated Belleville Small Engines and C&R Yamaha. His passion as a snowmobile enthusiast led him to start racing in the 70's and then operate his own dealership and snowmobile shop. Dave was a collector and saver, one merely needed to look in the right spot to find that needed part to repair a machine. Dave enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, and trapping, along with being a well-regarded softball pitcher for the Dayton Hideaway team. He was also a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville.

Dave is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Frank) Gobel; grandchildren, Derek Gobel, Danielle Gobel and Josey Scoville; great-grandson, Trey Gobel; another great-grandson on the way; nephew, Dylan Schulz; and niece, Taylor Schulz. He is further survived by his companion of sixteen years, Carol Larson; and faithful canine, Wiggles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; son, Todd; and a brother, Scott.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church Street, Belleville, WI, with Pastor Kenneth L. Schaub officiating. Burial is in the Brooklyn Cemetery. Relatives and friends called from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on Monday, June 4, 2018, at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.

The family would like to thank the staffs of St. Mary's Care Center and Agrace HospiceCare, Inc., especially Brianne, for the kind and compassionate care given to Dave. They would also like to thank the family and friends who stopped by to check in and visit.
