The Sugar River track team competed in the WIAA D2 Turner Regional on May 21st. The boys team placed 6th while the girls placed 8th.
"We had a great showing in an extremely competitive regional," said Coach Willy Johnson. "There were 11 events that include a total of 20 athletes advancing to Sectionals in Lancaster. The weather seems to be favorable on Thursday and that is a good sign for our kids. With the top four advancing to State after Sectionals we feel we will have some athletes make it through."

"We were well represented at the Sectional meet this year and were able to get two individual events through to State. There is always fierce competition at this stage and today was no different," said Johnson. "Our athletes knew it was going to take a little extra for them to advance as we missed out on four more events going by tenths, even hundredths of seconds. I feel for those that didn't make it, particularly our seniors whose track and field careers come to an end. To the underclassmen coming back, they know now what they need to do if they are wanting to move onto State next year."
Kiara Donnell and Dalton Fahey will be competing at the State Track Meet at UW-La Crosse on June 1st and 2nd.
