Ann Marie Markwardt, age 79, formerly of New Holstein, WI, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the New Glarus Home where she had resided for the last few years. She was born on May 15, 1938, to her parents, Jess and Hildegarde (Binsfeld) Mortimer in Chilton, WI.

Ann graduated from Chilton High School in 1956, and then worked as a bookkeeper for the Chilton Co-Op. On May 13, 1961, she was united in marriage to Allen Markwardt in Chilton. Ann and Allen raised their family in New Holstein and were members of St. John’s United Church of Christ. The couple moved to Belleville after Allen’s retirement to be closer to their children, and became members of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville. Ann loved and cherished her family and enjoyed spending her time with them.

Ann is survived by her children, Pamela (Thomas) Elmer and Paul (Linda) Markwardt; and a granddaughter, Samantha (fiancé Nicholas Kapusta) Elmer. She is further survived by her brothers, John (Donna) Mortimer and Eugene Mortimer; a sister, Sr. Jesse Marie Mortimer; five nieces; two nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen in 2008; and a sister-in-law, Pam Mortimer in 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church Street, Belleville, WI, with the Rev. Kenneth L. Schaub officiating with burial in the Belleville Cemetery. A visitation will precede the funeral service from 12:00 noon until time of services at the First United Church of Christ in Belleville.
