On Friday, May 11, 2018, the Belleville Fire Department and EMS were dispatched to a residential structure fire on Hughes Road, in the Town of Exeter. Upon arrival, crews quickly extinguished the fire which appeared to have begun in a wood stove. According to the Belleville Fire Department, the fire caused about $100,000 in damage to the home and its contents. Assisting the Belleville Fire Department were New Glarus, Brooklyn and Verona Fire Departments. Mount Horeb Fire Department assisted with a change of quarters. Belleville Police Department also assisted at the scene.
