Lynn A. Alme

Surrounded by her family, Lynn A. Alme's walk here on earth ended on Sunday, April 29, 2018. She was born on December 28, 1951, to George and Leah (Jordan) Moreland of Belleville.

Lynn graduated from Belleville High School in 1970, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On January 15, 1972, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard C. Alme. Lynn worked for American Family Insurance for over thirty years as a health and life underwriter. As an avid quilter Lynn realized her lifelong dream of owning her own quilt shop. In November of 1998, she opened Patches & Petals on Main Street in Belleville. Lynn was actively involved in the store until failing health led her to turn over the day-to-day operations to her daughter, Andrea. In the spring of 2012, Patches & Petals was recognized as one of the Top Ten Quilt Shops in North America by Better Homes & Gardens Quilt Sampler publication. Out of her love of quilting, Lynn developed her own pattern line, Sweet Pea Designs. Lynn held leadership roles in several state quilting associations, along with assisting fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association and Quilts of Valor. Her expertise led to her becoming a sought-after lecturer in the quilting industry. Lynn was a past president of the Belleville Sports Boosters and an active member of the Chamber of Commerce.
