Reese Shares Joy of Easter

March 29, 2018

Dear Editor,

Discouraged, sad – a lot of words like these describe how most of us feel when we listen to the news each day.  We know that time changes many things and people – but this is far from the world where most of us grew up. I needed to lift my spirits.  Since I don’t drink or pop pills, I decided to go to church – where in a nearby town the church was having their huge estate – rummage sale. I stood inside the large room filled with table after table of what was once someone’s treasures. The aisles were filled with shoppers.

I was glancing intently at the tables when I suddenly heard a child’s loud voice.  “Look, Mommy, Look, Mommy – a cross!” And there he was - a small fellow about four, blonde hair and a wide smile. He was pointing to the old rugged cross standing at the end of the room. And then loudly, and with a joyous sound in his voice, he declared, “Jesus loves ME!  Jesus loves ME!”  He then turned and went to checking out the tables. I thanked God for parents who have taught their children.  I asked God to bless that little boy.  And I thanked God for giving his Son Jesus, who died on the cross to pay for our sins and rose again.

It is Easter - He Lives!

Elaine Reese,

Spring Green
