Monticello Village Board Candidate April Fuhr
March 15, 2018
April Fuhr
Age: 39
Occupation: Donor Support Coordinator with the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin.
Years lived in village: One currently, but I lived in the village for many years after graduating from Monticello High School.
Incumbent? No
Have you been on the village board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: I have never held a publicly elected position but I have been appointed to and served on several board and committees. In Platteville I was on the Police and Fire Commission and the Library Board among others.
Why are you running for village board? I am running for a seat on the board because I love where I live. I have lived many places and Monticello has always been home. I feel that I have a lot to offer the community as a board member.
What issues do you find most important to the village board? List your top three priorities: My top three priorities are Economic Development and growth, increasing access to quality, affordable and reliable broadband (internet) and developing more public/private partnerships between the village and volunteer organizations and to seek grant funding or other opportunities to fund specific projects.
If you could reverse one village action, what would that be? I believe that every board makes the best decisions it can with the information it has at the time and with the interests of the community in mind. I can only look forward. I think it is important for every board to not just handle current issues but to plan for the future.
Any additional comments? I am honored to be running as a write-in candidate for the Village of Monticello. Please feel free to reach out to me with your thoughts, concerns and opportunities for our village. I am excited to hear what you have to say. Thank you.
