Joe Quaglia qualified for the WIAA State Wrestling tournament by placing third at the Richland Center Sectionals.  Quaglia lost his first round match, but was able to have a wrestle-back due to his opponent winning his next match and he took full advantage.  In his second match, he defeated a tough Wautoma/Wild Rose opponent with a third period pin.  In his third place match, Quaglia did not waste any time and pinned his Wisconsin Dells opponent in 51 seconds.

"Joe started off with a tough loss, but came back with a lot of intensity in the last two matches.  He showed a lot of mental toughness in his second match, being down 6-2 in the third period," commented Coach Peter Swenson.  "He never gave in and continued to grind out the for the huge win.  From there, he used his momentum to dominate the Dells kid and punch his ticket to state."

Robert Chenoweth lost his first round match and was unable to wrestle-back due to his opponent losing his semifinals match.

"Robert had a great season and really turned it on after the new year, going 15-3," said Swenson.  "He has two more years to improve and I know with his passion and dedication for the sport he has the ability to make it to Madison.  I am proud all everyone this season and their attitude and work ethic.  Even though we will finish with our season this weekend, I am excited for the upcoming years."
