Knights Remain Undefeated, Seeded #1 for WIAA Regional Tournament
Zach Feller Scores 1,000th Career Point in Game Against Belleville

On Friday, February 16, 2018, the top ranked New Glarus Knights once again took on their Hwy 69 Rivals, the Wildcats of Belleville. The Knights jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, winning the game with a score of 77-47. On March 2nd, the Knights will host the winner of Belleville vs Dodgeland game in tournament action.
The New Glarus Knights played at Cambridge on February 13th, easily winning the game after dominating the second half. The halftime score was 34-25, in favor of New Glarus, but the offense shifted into high gear during the second, outscoring the Cambridge team by 27 points. The final score was New Glarus 91, Cambridge 55.
Trevor Gassman poured in 21 points to lead the Knights in scoring, and was perfect from the free throw line for the night. Jaden Kreklow, who was 4-5 from the line, scored 19 points, Cullen Brooks put 18 points on the board and Dishawn Gale scored 10 points.
The Knights traveled north on Highway 69 to take on the Belleville Wildcats on Friday, February 16th. Their previous meeting, on January 19th, results in a 76-54 win for the Knights at home. The Knights took a commanding 27-15 lead by halftime and pounded the Wildcats in the second half to come away with the victory. The final score was New Glarus 77, Belleville 47.
Leading New Glarus with 18 points was Jaden Kreklow, who was 5-5 from the free throw line. Zach Feller, who scored his 1,000th career point during this game, put 17 on the board, and Cullen Brooks scored 15 points and was perfect from the line. Dishawn Gale added 10 to the score.

He shoots...he scores! At the New Glarus vs Belleville game on February 16, 2018, Zach Feller became only the third New Glarus boys basketball player to score 1,000 career points. Larry Retrum (1995) and Jaden Kreklow (2018) are the two other Knights players to earn the honor. Zach had 17 points in the win over the Belleville Wildcats.
Belleville's leading scorer was Austin Fahey, with 11 points. He also had four rebounds and three steals. Royce Clark put 8 points on the board and had eight rebounds, Brock Kelly scored 7 points and had five rebounds and Cole Myers scored 6 points and had six rebounds.
The game against Belleville signaled the end of conference play for the Knights, who went 10-0 in the Capitol South Conference (21-0) overall. They have one regular season game remaining, which will take place against Poynette at home on February 22nd. The Knights are seeded #1 for the WIAA Regional Tournament and have a bye for the first week, but will host the winner of the #9 Belleville vs #8 Dodgeland winner on Friday, March 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. New Glarus has been ranked #1 in Division 4 in Wisconsin by the AP for two weeks in a row.
