LUCYBELLE SANNA
February 22, 2018
LucyBelle Sanna was welcomed into the world on February 10, 1930, to Lewis and Lunana (Slocum) Siberz and her sister, Kathleen. LucyBelle would become a big sister when another daughter, Mary, was born.
The family lived in Madison, where Lewis was an architect and Lunana was a busy homemaker. The family would go to the local soda fountain for a special treat during the Depression Era. The girls were always busy playing together, especially drawing paper dolls and designing many outfits they would cut out and dress the dolls in.
In the summer, LucyBelle had great adventures, as she would take the train with her friend, Margaret, to spend time on Margaret's grandparent's farm, in Prairie du Chien. The girls would help with farm chores and go horseback riding as often as they could. Kathleen, LucyBelle and Mary attended Blessed Sacrament for grade school and then went on to Edgewood High School. Always interested in art and with a special flair and talent, LucyBelle attended UW-Madison to study art. In 1950, she married John Lunenschloss, an engineer and business owner. LucyBelle and John had three children, Mike and Joe Lunenschloss and Pat (Jeff) Klossner. The family took daytrips, and LucyBelle and the children also spent time at a lovely cottage on the lake in Phillips, WI.
She expressed her love and talent with art through showings at local galleries and designing costumes for the Madison Children's Theatre for 20 years. Eventually, LucyBelle and John divorced.
LucyBelle would meet and marry Leon "Buck" Sanna, and the couple was blessed with a son, Filip Sanna. Buck was President of Sanna Dairies, the makers of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate.
LucyBelle was a longtime member of the Madison Art Guild and the National Pastel Society. She won many local and national awards, including "Best in Show" at the National Pastel Society's 1980 competition in New York City.
In later years, LucyBelle, Buck and Fil had the opportunity to travel to many countries. After Buck's passing, LucyBelle lived in North Carolina for a few years, and then returned to the Madison area. LucyBelle died on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at the Ingleside Nursing Home at the age of 88.
In addition to her children, survivors include six grandchildren, Erica (Jeff) Zander-Meier, Carrie (John) Zander-Lancaster, James and Meghan Zander, Chase and Shane Lunenschloss; four great grandchildren, Lauren, Evelyn, Lyndon Belle and Mason; a sister, Mary Siberz; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Ellestad Camacho Funeral Home, 500 N. 8th Street, Mount Horeb, WI, with Fr. Chahm Gahng officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m., on Saturday at the funeral home.
