The final playoff match of the first half, held on February 6th, was a nail biter, much like this year's super bowl. The Screaming Eagles were up by 1 after one, then down 1 and then 2 after three frames. The match was even after four frames, at which point the Express shoved the throttle ahead a notch to take a 26-point lead after five. Eagle Heights flapped their wings a few times to gain altitude in the sixth frame to swoop within 6 of the Express. But unable to maintain altitude, the Eagles finished 11 points short of derailing the Express. Pat Dann and Stan Novotny (Eagles) were high for the match with 110 points, while Shawn Farrell and Eric Blabaum were low with 93.
As for the results of February 8th, 5th Quarter had to deal up some fancy moves to out shuffle past the Norsk Pranksters. Stan Hook and Derek Skogen lead the way with 110 points for the Shufflers. Pranksters Chris Hook and Jordy Schmitz weren't giving in easily, as they recorded 114 points for Norsk Pranksters. The Shufflers had a 28-point lead halfway through the match, but were tied after the Pranksters forged a perfect fifth round. Down 10 after seven, the Shufflers generated their own perfect round in the eighth to secure a 6-point victory keeping them in a tie for first place. Hooterville, another first place team, had no trouble winning their second match of the week, defeating J&M Bar by 82 points. John Scheidegger and Tracy Haag were the lead conductors for the Express with their perfect 120 points. Whereas, Kurt Beutel and Gordie Miller (River Rats) snared only 60 points, this week's low.
Kleeman's outrode the Norsk Cowboys (who were also tied for first going into the night) beating them by 38 points. Kleeman's led the entire match as Hay Shakers Steve Sponem and Al Zimmerman, plus Barb Judd and Rick Skindrud, scored 110 points each, while no Cowboy broke 100.
Eagle Heights flew into Pine Bluff with a chip on their shoulder after losing to Hooterville earlier in the week. Jumping out to an 11-point lead after one round, the Eagles never looked back pecking apart the Pipe Benders, beating them by 61. Chris Booth and Ryan Anderson (Pipe Benders) scored just 69, while Pat Dann and Terry Zahler a 114 and Stan Novotny and Dean Disch tallied 110 points for the Eagles.
S'wisco Taphaus jumped out to a 29-point lead over the It's Time Mounties after the first frame and 35 after two. However, It's Time won four of the last six frames to lock up a 10-point win. Mounties Tom and Janice Magnuson were high scorers in this match, with 117 points. They lost only their second and seventh frames by 2 and 1 points respectively.
