Monticello Community Club to Hold 20th Annual Chickaree
Sunday, January 28, 2018
January 11, 2018
The Chickaree is an event the Monticello Community Club started 20 years ago in conjunction with the Lion’s Fisheree.
The Community Club will be grilling 550 chickens again this year. Half chickens will be sold at $7.00 (not a complete dinner…just chicken). The basting recipe remains the same as what is used at Homecoming.
You must order your chicken in advance. Preorder before January 26th at Gempeler’s Supermarket, The Boar’s Nest, Eagle Pass, Luckys Farm Tavern, The Kooler, T&D’s Bar and Grill, M&M Café, or the Rathskeller. Print your full name, phone number and quantity of half chickens you would like.
If you are homebound and have no one to pick up your chicken, call Carol Strause and leave a message at (608) 293-4994. A Community Club member will deliver your chicken to you on January 28th.
On the day of the Chickaree, all preordered chicken must be picked up between 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m., at the Octagon Shelter. After 11:30 a.m., any chicken not picked up will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Make your check payable to the Monticello Community Club. Preordering is the only way to go; otherwise, you might be out in the cold! Unless there is a blizzard, extremely cold temps, and/or high winds, we promise to grill chicken. If you would like to help cook chickens, call the Head Cluck, Mark Wittenwyler, at (608) 938-4921 or Wade Wittenwyler at (608) 938-4463. You don’t have to be a Community Club member to volunteer, and it is much appreciated.
